Mission, South Dakota, home of Rosebud Casino, is a Native American settlement on the Rosebud Indian Reservation some 200 miles from the nearest population center to the northwest. The land on which Rosebud Casino is built is among the most desolate in all of the United States, located as it is just a few miles away from the Badlands. 233h3z

A small population increase around the year 2000 is in part due to the construction of Rosebud Casino, one of the larger tribal properties in this region of the US. There is very little civilization in the area, so it’s safe to say that the Rosebud is the only place to play games of chance in skill within about a 200-mile radius or more.

Rosebud Casino’s gaming floor is broken up into two separate buildings, one connected to a restaurant and retail shopping space in the heart of Mission, the other slightly outside the city limits.

The first venue is home to live casino-style poker, head-to-head poker, and a few other traditional casino card games like blackjack. The other facility, slightly outside the city’s limits, is where all “Type 2” games (slots and video poker) are hosted. This has to do with tribal gaming laws in the state of South Dakota.

Live bingo is available in the in-town destination, where card games are played, three days a week most of the year. The other games are available from 9 AM to midnight during the week, extending their open hours to 2 AM on the weekends.

The website for Rosebud Casino s their “2 and a half bars.” One bar is on each level of the main gaming floor, while a small bar in the lobby is open during limited hours, especially during the heavier tourist seasons in the spring and summer.

The other dining venues are the Rosebud Room and the Rosebud Café. The Rosebud Room is more formal, open during limited hours (4 PM to 10 PM) and sometimes requiring a reservation. The Rosebud Café is far more formal, serving fast food and casual American-style meals.
