Located 250 miles north of the Las Vegas Strip, in the extreme Eastern part of the state, Ely, Nevada is just west of Great Basin National Park. A small town founded as part of the original Pony Express and stage coach lines, Ely had its first boom when copper and other minerals were discovered nearby in the early 20th Century.

These days, Ely is not the boomtown it once was, with decreased tourist traffic. Thanks to its position at the extreme eastern side of US 50 (a stretch of highway known as “The Loneliest Road in America”) it is often overlooked by tourists, who head instead to Las Vegas or Lake Tahoe.

The only 24 hour gaming floor in Ely (or in all of Eastern Nevada) is home to slots, video poker terminals, table games, and a poker room. A small collection of tables with live dealers host games like blackjack all day long, though the true focus of gaming in The Hotel Nevada & Gambling Hall is the 400 slot and video poker games set apart from table games and grouped by denomination.

The poker “room” is not a separate room, but a cordoned-off collection of three tables, usually hosting live Texas hold’em games, though other variants can be played depending on how many players are interested.
