Just a half hour’s drive from downtown San Diego, the casino is located on native land, near the Capitan Grande Reservation, one of the largest such areas in the United States. About an hours’ drive from the Mexican border town of Tijuana, Barona Resort is sandwiched between two pretty popular vacation spots, and bills itself as such, with an attached resort and entertainment complex.

More than 2,000 total games are available on any given day at Barona. As many as 80 table games are available – the largest total in the state – though the list of available titles is mostly made up of small rule variations on common themes, like blackjack, casino poker, etc.

The casino itself is open 24 hours a day, though not all amenities (restaurants, etc.) are available around the clock. Their many varieties of blackjack (and the games’ constant availability) has earned the Barona many accolades, including “Best Blackjack in the United States” by Casino Player magazine.

Eight restaurants and bars and a large food court give Barona one of the biggest varieties in of food on the West Coast. The options include Asian food, an upscale steakhouse, an intimate coffee shop, and several grab-and-go options. Most of the dining options are near or inside the gaming floor, and residents of the resort can have most of the food delivered to their room as well. Tableside service is available for certain table games and in the attached poker room.
