Founded in 1978, the Boomtown Casino took the novel approach of operating in its early years without a permanent location. It started up to accommodate community groups and continues to over 250 groups to this day who bring in volunteers to operate casino nights to raise funds. It is now located in the Peter Pond Shopping Centre in the centre of Fort McMurray in Alberta, making it easily accessible from the airport which is just seven miles to the south. 7g1g

The casino floor is jam-packed with 450 slot machines which operate on a coin-less credit system using tickets. The slot machines operate from 10am to 3pm every day whereas the table games operate from Monday to Wednesday from 4pm to 1am, Thursday from 4pm to 2am, Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 2am and Sunday from 12pm to 1am.
